Hey everybody, long time no see.  I really don't know what you're all making such a big deal about.  It's all semantics.  I saw the advertisement for this competition, and on it was written "Featuring 'The North American French Open' categories" blah blah blah...Yes, it is in a french speaking part of North America.  No, it does not claim to be France.  Get your facts straight people.

OK souldancer help me get the facts straight. On the web site and the material I have seen, it never mentioned North American French Open. Show us where it says this.

You are right North Amertican is mentioned. However when I saw the amateur entry form it had French Open only where you check the box and I thought it was the French Open. The Flyers all have "French Open" in quotation marks. It doesn't include North American in the quotation marks. If it was the "North American French Open" wouldn’t that be in quotation marks?  I think Quickktime2 is right.  At the least it is really misleading.

"HOWEVER .... however..

..At the least it is really misleading"

Do not say ?

You are either easily to be misled,  or have decided to have a last word,  ready to add your 'however'.

You were shown and accepted that it was advertized as North American "French Open".  Quebec represents  Canadian French society,  so they called it quite appropriately French. And it was open,  so it was called appropriently "French Open".   Has it confused you ?

I cannot see how any free thinking , half -wit, semi-inteligent person  could ever think, or pretent to be misled into believing this was France's  French Open.

What I mean is,  anyone able to remember a dance choreography should have enough wits  and not to be so naive to make such an assumption...and even if you are a kid who  wanted  to participate in French Open in France,  check with your parents.  They  will explain that France is not in North America, not even in Canada,    and will show you on a map  where  France is , where you can dance real French Open.

HOWEVER.... if people want to attack and discredit LaClassique, they Must find something wrong, and Will criticize no matter what,  and so I accept yout point that you may have perhaps felt disappointed this championship held in Canada was not authorized by France.   And in case you had entered, competed and  won and have not become dance champion of France,  but just a professioal champion of  La ClassiqueProfessional Open named North American "french open"  you should be pittied,  and  congratulations  would be in order....BUT/HOWEVER we know that Dominiko has won,  and was not at all concerned  or disappointed he has not become hero of France,  and I do not believe that not even the second or third placements felt they placed 2nd and 3dr etc in anything else then La Classique North American 'French Open'.

If you feel cheated, ask for a refund,  get an advice fron a lawyer,  you may convince him/her  you have a case.

Good luck !

I have been to a number of countries open championships. The Canadian Open was held in Canada. The German Open was held in Germany. The USA Open was held in the USA. The French Open should be held in France. It's not too difficult to understand is it?

I decided a while back not to debate here anymore because of the sarcasm and abuse being theown about. I still don't intend to.

That said, I have read this thread with utter incredulity. With all the things going on in our world you seem content to discuss the rubbish as to whether the word French should be used in relation to a Quebec competition. What does it matter. Quebec is a french speaking region of France. What does it matter if they use the word French in one of it's competition titles.

Come on people. Grow up.

Best wishes

Stand by everyone.

Canada is now to present the

British Open for the english speakers

Chinese Open for the Chinese speakers

Iranian Open for the Iramian Speakers

German Open for the German Speakers

Ukranian Open for the Ukranians

Russian Open for the Russians

so on and so on.

It boils down to integritsy and honesty.

You have it or you do not.

When you do not then you call your event whatever you wish and supporters wriggle and wriggle to find an explanation why it is acceptable-.

IDSF supporters who are and never have been interested in truth will come up with so many reasons why this is acceptable.

Has anyone read the totally inaccurate and false tribute to the late and wonderful Mr Bill Irvine on the IDSF web site?

Mr. Irvine was South African Latin Champion for some years BEFORE  1959-  Then IDSF are never interested in truth and fact and Mr. Irvine was no IDSF supporter. but they want to jumpon the bandwagon-

My God----------------  The WDC had the audacity to hold the Asian Open in Asia.

How dishonest is that?????????????????????????????????????

This is my very last post and I wish both my friends and and enemies good health and may you have the future you deserve

Best regards and greetings to all. and my most sincere thank nyou to everyone at dancesportinfo.  They do a brilliant job and their protection of freedom is commendable and an example to so many in the dance world.

Dancesportinfo.  THANK YOU-

This is my very last post

Now,  must we really stand.  We already stand by everyone.  Especially we stand for Canada and CADA and often stand by even for IDSF.  We also stand for  WDC. They all do good for dance while having minor conflicts of interest.

Thank you Polkadancer for introducing all possible competitions,  after all  we are a quite mix of nationalities and your "so on"  has probably included the ..Spanish, Japanese  ..all very important. You called some "Iramian Speakers", but regarless ....

Edited 9/March :   Dear Polkadancer,  call me intuitive, but  perhaps I sensed the change in your mood:

..I had no idea,  and I am so sad and sorry,   and  thank you Polkadancer for correspodsing with me and Jazz and Jive2005 and others for last few years ,  you were always on the right track and it was my pleasure exchanging notes. I believe it was quite appropriate and intuitive when I wrote:

I am also pleased you have finally found a new direction, turned to religion and call on God...  Whenever feeling alone, and helpless... turn to Him,  it is a good thing .You did  it !  You found your way to light,  you even stated this was your last post.

No sarcasm here Polkadancer , just a humble observation and perhaps my last advice.  Advice to a drea friend.  We all shall join one day,  just as the rain drops join into a rain, which in turns starts a trickle of water, the stream, the river, event the mighty flood.  All has a beginning and it has no end,  and that is the place we  all end, together.

If you had Polkadancer found the way,  you ARE and always will be all right !

I will miss you if you chose not come back, and when on the dance floor,  do something for us, come back, join us and if you see something good,  cheer for us till we cannot any more.

Love, Thanx and Bye.
